Omar McDade – Founder & Head Coach, Hornets Basketball Academy

With over 25 years of coaching experience in the valley, Omar McDade has dedicated his life to mentoring young athletes and building strong, character-driven teams. As the founder of Hornets Basketball Academy, his mission is simple yet powerful: “To give every kid a chance to play organized basketball.”

Omar grew up in San Diego, California, where he was a multi-sport athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball throughout high school. He went on to play college football at Utah State University, bringing his passion for sports and leadership to the next level.

Beyond the court, Omar is a devoted family man. He has been happily married for 34 years to his wife, Jackie McDade, and together they’ve raised three sons: Omar Saleem, Blade Terrell, and Anthony Lorenzo.

Coach McDade’s commitment to youth development, community, and the game of basketball continues to inspire the next generation of athletes in Northern Utah and beyond.
